Home health services

After a stroke or a serious illness, speaking and swallowing can both become hard. Our speech-language pathologists work on speech and language, and on swallowing so the patient can eat and drink more safely.

  • It starts with a doctor's order

Home health care starts with an order from the patient's doctor. If you don't have one yet, call us and we'll explain how to ask for it.

  • Tell us about coughing or choking

If the patient coughs, chokes, or sounds wet or gurgly when eating or drinking, mention it when you call. The therapist checks swallowing early, because food or drink that goes into the lungs can cause pneumonia.
